چکیده
We combined biostratigraphical analyses, archaeological surveys, and Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) models to provide new insights into the relative sea-level evolution in northeastern Aegean Sea (eastern Mediterranean). In this area, characterized by a very complex tectonic pattern, we produced typology of index point, based on foraminiferal associations found transgressive marine facies. Our results agree with history previously region, therefore confirming validity type point. The expanded dataset presented paper further demonstrates continuous Holocene RSL rise portion Sea. Comparing record available geophysical predictions indicates that crustal subsidence Samothraki Plateau North Trough played major role controlling millennial-scale area. This rate needs be taken account preparation local future scenarios coming decades.

Late Holocene Caspian Sea Level Changes and its Impacts on Low Lying Coastal Evolution: a Multidisciplinary Case Study from South Southeastern Flank of the Caspian Sea
Caspian Sea is the largest land locked water body in the world and has been characterized by significant relative sea-level changes since the Pliocene. The sea-level oscillations have strongly impacted the coastal areas depending on geomorphological setting. This study aims to investigate the impacts of sea level oscillations on low-lying coasts of the southeastern flank of the Caspian Sea...
متن کاملMinimal late Holocene sea level rise in the Chukchi Sea: arctic insensitivity to global change?
Long-term estimates of sea level rise are essential for planning responses to anthropogenic global change. The tectonically stable, unglaciated eastern Chukchi Sea coast has numerous depositional environments for extracting long-term records in the absence of tide gauge data. Radiocarbon ages (n= 27) on paleo-marsh beds along several Seward Peninsula lagoons allows the reconstruction of sea lev...
متن کاملA new Late Holocene sea-level record from the Mississippi Delta: evidence for a climate/sea level connection?
A detailed relative sea-level (RSL) record was constructed for the time interval 600–1600 AD, using basal peat to track sea level and containing 16 sea-level index points that capture w60 cm of RSL rise. The study area is in the Mississippi Delta where the spring tidal range is w0.47 m, the impact of ocean currents on sea-surface topography is limited, and crustal motions are well constrained. ...
متن کاملSea-level Control on Source-rock Development: Perspectives from the Holocene Black Sea, the Mid-cretaceous Western Interior Basin of North America, and the Late Devonian Appalachian Basin
Changing sea level is a major factor in the pattern of enrichment of organic carbon in marginal and epicontinental seas. Organiccarbon-rich facies accumulate preferentially during major transgressive episodes. Rising sea level promotes retention of nutrients in marginal seas through several possible mechanisms, leading to higher organic production and/or eutrophic conditions. Transgressive seas...
